Tickets

• For a single journey

The ticket must be punched in the nearest punch machine immediately after the passenger gets on the vehicle

.• For a single journey ticket sold by the driver

Immediately after the passenger gets on through the door at the front end of the vehicle, a ticket must be purchased from the driver and punched at the nearest punch machine

• For a single journey ticket issued by ticket machine in trolleybuses and trams

The ticket becomes effective at the moment of its issue by the ticket vending machine, with the date, time, vehicle number and bus stop number printed on the ticket. Warning: A ticket purchased from a ticket machine in a tram or trolleybus is only valid for a single journey in the vehicle in which it was purchased.

• For two-stage journeys (bus/tram/trolleybus and underground) the ticket is valid for 60 min.

With this ticket two journeys maybe made in 60 min – one on a bus/tram/trolleybus and one on the underground. In the bus/tram/trolleybus the ticket must be punched in the nearest punch machine immediately after embarking on the vehicle, with the journey’s starting time indicated. In the underground the ticked is validated by the validators, placed on the entrance barriers to the underground.

• Ticket with vouchers for five or ten single journeys of one passenger (each ticket is valid in the relevant set of 5 or 10 vouchers).

The ticket consists of five or ten single journey vouchers that have the same number, and may be used only by one passenger. The relevant ticket voucher must be punched in the nearest punch machine immediately after embarking the vehicle. A ticket voucher may also be used to pay the luggage charge provided that the passenger is traveling with a voucher from the same ticket

• Electronic ticket for five or ten single trips for one passenger, credited on a travel smartcard – in trolleybuses and trams

A travel smartcard credited with tickets must be validated at the validators placed near the doors immediately after embarking the vehicle. Each time the fare is collected the number of remaining journeys is reduced by one. Warning: Travel with an electronic ticket for five or ten single journeys for one passenger credited on a travel smartcard is available only in trolleybuses and trams.

• Penalty fare for passenger without ticket

The ticket shall be issued and verified by a ticket conductor and entitles the passenger to continue his journey on the same vehicle

.• For trolleybus and tram passengers who have not paid the fare and have a smartcard travel pass

The ticket is issued and validated by a ticket conductor and entitles the passenger to continue his journey on the same vehicle

Warning: Children up to the age of 7 travel for free and without a ticket/travel card

Tickets may be purchased from all travel card outlets and ticket desks of the Urban Mobility Centre EOOD, as well as from retail dealers who are under commission contract.

E-tickets for five or ten single journeys for one passenger may be credited to a travel smartcard in all travel card outlets of Urban Mobility Centre EOOD. 

• Anonymous Travel Card: in paper or electronic format (travel smartcard – TSC);
•  Personal Travel Cards for concession travel: in paper or electronic format (travel smartcard – TSC);

• receive a pension under the provisions of Chapter VI of the Social Security Code; are at the required age according to Art. 68, Par. 1-3 of the same code; and are registered as residents of Sofia.

• Adults over the age of 68 who are registered as residents of the Municipality of Sofia.

• Full-time students in higher educational institutions whose campus is within the territory of the Municipality of Sofia, including graduating students up to the first diploma session.

Travel cards are issued upon provision of ID card and student record book with an entry specifying the academic year, and are credited upon submission of ID card.

Paper travel cards may be purchased from all travel card outlets of Urban Mobility Centre EOOD.

Travel smartcards are issued and credited in travel card outlets of Urban Mobility Centre EOOD.

Prices and type of transport document

• PhD students in full-time education in higher educational institutions whose campus is located on the territory of the Municipality of Sofia. 

Travel cards are issued and credited upon submission of ID card and list of PhD students, certified by the relevant university administration of the higher institution. 

• All students up to 20 years of age in the schools within the territory of the Municipality of Sofia, entered in the list of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Travel cards are issued upon submission of a school report book for the current academic year (for persons of 16 years or over) and are credited upon submission of ID card.

• Students from homes for children without parental care based within the territory of the Municipality of Sofia.

Travel smartcards are issued and credited as per lists from the relevant homes for children without parental care, certified by the principals.

Travel smartcards are issued and credited in the travel card outlet of Urban Mobility Centre EOOD at 86 Mariya Luiza Blvd

• People with disabilities of a general nature who receive pension until reaching 68 years of age, as well as their assistant when they are entitled to such, children with severe physical and/or mental disabilities, whose reduced adaptive capabilities are rated at 50 percent or less, as well as their assistant, when they are entitled to such, blind persons, as well as their assistant, when they are entitled to such and all disabled people  diagnosed as DEAF.

Disabled people, whose fitness for work is rated at more than 90 percent and who are entitled to receive assistance, are entitled to travel even after they have reached 68 years of age.

Permanently disabled people whose reduced fitness for work is established after they have reached the age for receiving pension for length of service and old age or they have reached this age during the decision period TELK (NELK), shall use their rights under this Ordinance for life regardless of the period specified in the expert decision.

An assistant may travel with the transport document of the person entitled to concession travel when he is accompanying him/her. By way of exception, when the person entitled to concession travel is not present only one of the assistants whose names are printed on the smartcard may travel using the transport documen .

The assistant must be of legal age and be registered as resident within the territory of the Municipality of Sofia.

The right to concession travel cards is had by the permanently disabled persons who do not receive monetary benefit for transport  services according to Art. 25, Par. 2 of the Rules and Regulations on Enforcement of the Integration of Disabled Persons Act.

Travel cards on electronic carrier shall be issued as per lists, certified by the Social Activities Department at the Municipality of Sofia and        shall be received in the relevant offices for social services as per the residence of the entitled person.

Travel smartcards are credited in the travel card outlets of Urban Mobility Centre EOOD.
