Wheel clamp

A vehicle parked in violation of Art. 47 of the Ordinance on Traffic Organization in the Municipality of Sofia (OTOMS) may be immobilized using a wheel clamp.

The structure of the wheel clamp and the method of placing thereof should be such as not to cause damage to the vehicle.

It is prohibited to damage the wheel clamp or to have its removal carried out by any persons other than those authorized to do so.

The amount owed by the owner or the authorized driver of the clamped vehicle is fixed and is determined annually by recommendation of the Parking and Mobility Department at Urban Mobility Centre EOOD.

Clamped vehicles that remain parked in the Blue Zone for a period longer than the one specified on the road sign may be removed by tow truck. In such an event, in addition to having to pay the costs of immobilization by wheel clamp, the owner or the authorized driver of the vehicle will also have to pay the costs of removal by tow truck, transportation and parking.

Police and Fire Department vehicles and other emergency vehicles such as ambulances are exempt from wheel-clamping or removal by tow truck.
